Seriously, I know all parents say "where did the time go?" but honestly...holy cow. I cannot believe Dylan is already three! He asked to have a pirate party so we decided to keep with our tradition and have it at my mom's pool...pirate swim party, hooray!
Here's the totally excited birthday boy in the cute crown our friends Vanessa and Rod made for him.
And here was my attempt at making a pirate birthday banner...hmm...what looks wrong here?
Oh! I know, it should say, "Happy birthday captain dylan...not Happy birthday day captain dylan" I totally didn't even notice until the party was almost over.
Having a party at the pool is the best because the kids entertain themselves...here's Marley tryin' to keep it real like the big kids and a few other water shots.
Miss Elly Jean - always willing to strike a pose!Okay, my mom gave Dyl this huge inflatable whale for his bday...and all the kids loved it, even MarleyJust lookin' back to make sure Dad's still there... She was laughing hysterically, she loved it.
Miss Caitlyn (hope I spelled that right!) splashin away...sorry, a few of these pics should have been flipped.
Rick MADE me get in one shot. So i MADE Bri get in with me
Megan and Nana hangin' out...thanks again for making that yummy salsa Megan - you're the best!

This lame attempt at a treasure map was done as the guests were arriving, in the scorching 102 degree heat...so lay off me. Once again, this pic should be flipped.
Here's a little sneak preview of what Marley's first bday will be like next month (once again HOLY COW)...unlike her brother she dove right into that cake. Dylan just kept poking the cake with one finger and licking the icing off...so boring. Not Marley, she figured out it was faster and more efficient to just lick it off the plate.
Dyl got lots of really fun gifts, everyone was so generous, thank you all!
ARGH! look out, at a pirate party there's bound to be...PIRATES!Onto the pinata! This was the first year I've done one of these, but the kids really loved it. Dyl started it off of course...

Kialeya (totally butchered that spelling, sorry Margie!)ConnerColeCaptain BriAnd finally, the moment you've all been waiting for...Rod Ewing. He was a good sport and decided to give it a try...actually more like he was determined to bust the heck outta that thing no matter what.he was even willing to put on the pirate stuffno matter how ridiculous he lookedthe funniest part was when he got really into hitting it, but Rick kept swinging the rope really hard so it was hard to get and Rod starting swinging like crazy and...tripped over the tree roots! I almost died laughing...sorry Rod! But to end things on a happier note, Marley did find the stash of otter pops
and loved every last drop outta themwith a look letting me know she'd fight me to the death if i even thought about taking them away.

So anyways...we missed all the friends and family that couldn't make it and want to say one more big thank you to those who did. Dylan had a blast and I think the rest of the crew did too...all in all a birthday success! "A pirates life for me" (so lame)
